Tonya Lisa Cobb Hardy was born on June 10, 1962 in Atlanta, Georgia to Lanny and Judy Cobb. At the age of four, while attending Macon Drive Baptist Church, she was led to Christ by her parents. She attended Macon Drive Baptist Christian School 2nd-6th grade. When she was about six years old she felt the calling from the Lord to become a schoolteacher. In January 1971, when Tonya was eight years old, her older brother, “Jamey”, went to be with the Lord. A few years later her father was called to preach and the family moved to Weaverville, North Carolina where he still pastors Carolina Baptist Tabernacle and is caretaker of the Monte Vista Camp. While there, she attended Asheville Christian Academy 7th-12th and graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1980.
Tonya entered Tennessee Temple University in the fall of 1980 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education in Mathematics December, 1985. On November 4, 1985, she began teaching at Woodland Baptist Christian School. It is here that Mrs. Hardy has remained a faithful servant of God for some twenty-four years. She has also been a faculty member at Forsyth Technical Community College for the past fourteen years, working in GED/ABS/AHS Programs. She has a current certification as an Irlen Screener received in August of 2006. She has a current North Carolina State Licensure: Mathematics (Grades 9-12), Bible (Grades 9-12), and Middle Grades Mathematics (Grades6-9).
Mrs. Hardy married her life partner, Terry Hardy, November 20, 1993. She and her husband live in Rural Hall, NC with their two “dachshund” dogs, Kayla and Lacy.
